PALM BAY – His first car was a 1994 Honda Accord, but the vehicle first belonged to Jorge Lopez’s father and was used by the family after they settled in the U.S. from La Vega, a province of the Dominican Republic.
For Jorge López, driving for the first time was an incredibly euphoric experience, not only because it was his first car, but also because it was a Honda.
Today Lopez is part of the Southeastern Honda team, one of Florida’s leading dealerships. At 20 years old, he works as a car salesman for the company.
Lopez discusses how the brand and country of origin of the car create big differences. “I’ve always been drawn to Honda for its durability and quality, and I’ve learned a lot from it. This is what I like to tell my clients about these cars, “added Lopez, who emigrated to the U.S. with his family when he was only 9 years old.
His uncle was the one who helped him on this path. “He also sold cars for a living and saw the charisma and potential in me to succeed in this career. He helped me to get my first job in this area, and now my future goal is to be a ‘dealer’, “he said.
He emphasizes that selling cars is not about tricking people, but instead centers on being honest and open with clients. “This is so crucial throughout the process. I like to help customers feel confident and comfortable with their purchase, “said López.
Southeastern Honda has locations in Palm Bay, Melbourne, Cocoa, Vero Beach, Orlando, Titusville, Merritt Island, Sebastian, Cocoa Beach, Rockledge, Indialantic, Micco, Indian Harbor Beach, Patrick AFB, Cape Canaveral, Mims, Fort Pierce, Grant Valkaria and Port St John. In all of these locations, customers find the vehicle of their dreams, he pointed out.
“I love that I am able to help Latino customers who want to interact on a personal level and communicate in their native language,” said Lopez, the only Spanish-speaking salesman at the Palm Bay dealership.
The hiring of Lopéz has part of a strategy implemented by Southeastern Honda General Manager John Molloy to offer better services to the Hispanic community.
“We are getting more clientele that speak Spanish every day and our prices are very competitive,” said Molloy. “We were looking for a Spanish speaking sales person and Jorge applied. I would had hired him anyway, because he is a great guy.”
At Southeastern Honda, customers are able to find the right new or used vehicle in a quick and convenient way, Lopez said. They also have special offers every day so that customers can have additional savings when purchasing their vehicles.
The dealership also offers Honda service and parts, an online inventory, and excellent financing options.
